NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PLATEAU STATE STUDENTS PRESENTS PEACE BUILDING SYMPOSIUM The Welfare Secretary of the National Association of Plateau State Students (NAPSS) the University of Jos Chapter on Friday, 15th November 2019 organized a peacebuilding symposium titled “What Has Gone Wrong on the Plateau?” for students of the University of Jos. The program began in high spirits with Mr. Bello Lukman being the master of ceremony (MC). The National and School Anthem was offered after which the opening prayer was led by Alh. Umar Farouq Musa. The event which was held at the Multi-Purpose Auditorium, Bauchi Road Campus had in attendance various dignitaries to include Hon. ELECTIONEERING CAMPAIGNS GEAR UP IN THE NARAGUTA CAMPUS It is another season (second semester ending) where students in various departments and faculties are campaigning for various positions, people that will pilot the affairs of students, the campaigns in the faculty of arts for the various post are in top gear, because the election is close by, in November, there will be an election. The contestants in the faculty of Arts are about 25 in numbers, and in the department of mass communication are about 16 in numbers. Some slogans used by different aspirants are; “from FASA uprising to FASA last born” also “fidelity to revamp welfarism” for an aspirant in AMCOMS. Aspirants are seen going about campaigning in lecture halls, gatherings soliciting for votes. Although the aspirants are in high spirits in the campaign process, Some 200 level mass communication students stepped down. Department of microbiology celebrates NAMS Week MICROBIOLOGY CELEBRATES NAMS WEEK The Department of Micro Biology of the University of Jos Nigeria commenced her departmental week today the 21 st of October 2019. The occasions began as students of the department marched round the Bauchi Road Campus of the university sensitizing and educating students and sellers in the university environment on cholera, hepatitis and personal hygiene, the causes and effects. They were educated that micro organisms which are around us could either help or harm us, as some cause infection. The means through which these unhealthy organisms can be contacted includes: handshakes, washing of hands in stagnant water and lots more. Sharing of towels, sweats and saliva among others could be a means of contacting Hepatitis. The people were also educated that the symptoms of cholera include: loss of weight, watery diarrhea and others and they were enjoined to come to the department and get test...

FASA WELFARE SECRETARY ORGANISES A MALARIA SENSITISATION PROGRAMME The Office of the Welfare Secretary, Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA), University of Jos in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO), Plateau State Ministry of Health and the Carter Center organised a one day sensitisation program titled “The Curb Malaria Project” on Thursday, 31 st  October, 2019 for students of the University of Jos Community. In her opening speech, the FASA Welfare Secretary, Miss Emmanuel Vivian Tsiye thanked her partners, dignitaries and students for attending the program. The event which took place at ASUU Secretariat, Naraguta Campus had in attendance Mr. Kenrick Nwodu (Research Officer for Neglected Tropical Diseases, Carter Center), Dr. David D. Shwe (Medical Consultant), Mr. J.M. Abimiku (Faculty Officer of Arts), Mr. & Mrs. Umar Ransa, comrades among others. FISA HOLDS CONGRESS, CONSTITUTES ELCOM As the saying goes “unity is strength” and this was exemplified when the Federation of Igbo Students Association (FISA) Jos Chapter helds her congress on the 8 th  of November 2019 at the faculty of law, at the Naraguta Campus. The congress which began by 4:00pm was graced by the presence of the High Chief of the Association, in the person of John Chibuzor Obiekwe, his Lolo; Njemanze Chidera and his Onowu; Francis Okoro, among others. After the opening prayer, the president of the association, a 500 level student of law, read out “The Journey So Far”. This is the achievements of the association since they were elected into power. Their achievements included: Renewal of the association at the students affair level, conducting a successful welcome special which involved the face of FISA and the launching of FISA jotter. STUDENTS RECEIVE INNOVATION TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR An innovation technology seminar tagged “UJ Innovation Tech Camp” was organised by the Public Relations Officer of the Students Union Government (S.U.G) on Friday, 18th October, 2019 for students of the University of Jos community. Welcoming the guests, the S.U.G P.R.O Joshua Ugwumba, a 400 level student of the Faculty of Agriculture said that the program is in two phases: the 1st phase being the seminar which was to enlighten students on the need to acquire technological skills to complement their certificate while the 2nd phase will be a 3 months intensive training in web creation, graphics design, 3D effect and photoshop. Also speaking at the seminar, M.
